Lord Subrahmanya is the son of Lord Shiva and Parvathi. He is the younger brother of Lord Ganapathi. He was born to destroy Tarakasura. He has six heads. He is depicted as commander-in -chief of Gods leading their army against demons. He blesses devotees with health, wealth and taking care of children.
Subrahmanya is installed in the Western corner of sanctum sanctorum.
Anointing with milk, tender coconut water, kalabham, sacred ash, panchamritham are the offering to the Lord. On Shashti day of every month Shashti pooja, floral tribute and lemon garland are offered. Other than these, on Pooyam star in the month of Makaram, Ashtabhishekam is performed as main ritual.
