LORD KRISHNA
Born to Devaki and Vasudeva in Mathura, Lord Sri Krishna is revered as 9th avatharam of Lord Vishnu. Sri Krishna is considered taken birth to accomplish two things mainly. One is killing his uncle Kamsa who was a tyrant and the second to lead Pandavas to win Kurukshetra war for re-establishing Dharma. During Kurukshetra war he instils confidence and courage in Arjuna through the Bhagavad Gita discourse. Bhakti movement originated in South and Central India is mainly focussed on devotion to Krishna.
Outside the premises of sanctum sanctorum, in the Eastern side is Lord Shri Krisna installed.
Ashtamirohini is celebrated on Rohini star in the month of Chingam (which falls on eight day of moon phase) as the birthday of Shri Krishna. Payasam made of milk (Kheer), Butter, floral and other tributes and chanting of Santhanagopala mantram are offered on this day. Other than these, on the last ten days of Mandalam festival, “Dashaavathaara chaarthu” pooja is conducted. During the “Dashaavathaara chaarthu” on the day of Narasimha avathaaram, “paanakam” is offered. And on Shri Krishna avthaaram, payasam made of milk (Kheer) is the main offering.
